Obituary of Ronald Victor MacGillivray

LISMORE - Ronald Victor “Ronnie” MacGillivray, 49, New Glasgow, formerly of Lismore, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by family and friends. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Donald Jerome MacGillivray, Lismore and the late Kathryn Dianne (Hayman) MacGillivray. Ronnie was a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic. He was Shop Fleet Manager for TUC’S Contracting, A Division of Tuccaro Inc., Fort McMurray, for 10 years. Previously, Ronnie was employed with MacCulloch’s Truck Service, Stellarton for many years and had been a fisherman. He enjoyed ATVing, camping and the outdoors. He was an avid NASCAR fan and travelled to attend many of the races. Ronnie and his friends had many memorable trips to various parts of the United States and Cuba over the years. He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Surviving besides his father, Donnie, are daughter, Ashley Dawn Bell, Halifax; sister, Tracey (Glenn) Mackie, New Glasgow; nephew, Dalton Bonvie, New Glasgow; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides his mom, Dianne, he was predeceased by his brother, Fraser Donald in infancy. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 2 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday Sept. 3 in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore with Father Evo DiPierro presiding. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Ronnie’s memory to the Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses or Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment.
