THE PONDS – Martha Florence Turner, 76, The Ponds, slipped peacefully into the arms of her Saviour, Saturday, April 9, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, after a brief illness. Born at The Ponds, she was a daughter of the late Harry Ellsworth and Florence Charlotte (Arbuckle) Turner. She was an adherent of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish. Martha had the God-given ability to make everyone feel loved and special. She greatly enjoyed fishing, playing scratch tickets and eating ice cream. Surviving are her sister, Sylvia Mason, Merigomish; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Lorna MacPhee, Laura Murdock and Rena Watson; brothers, Harold “Pete” and James “Jimmie” Turner. The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:50 a.m. Monday, April 11th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. with Rev. Pat Rose officiating. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery. Family flowers only.
