Obituary of Martha Florence Turner

THE PONDS – Martha Florence Turner, 76, The Ponds, slipped peacefully into the arms of her Saviour, Saturday, April 9, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, after a brief illness. Born at The Ponds, she was a daughter of the late Harry Ellsworth and Florence Charlotte (Arbuckle) Turner. She was an adherent of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish. Martha had the God-given ability to make everyone feel loved and special. She greatly enjoyed fishing, playing scratch tickets and eating ice cream. Surviving are her sister, Sylvia Mason, Merigomish; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Lorna MacPhee, Laura Murdock and Rena Watson; brothers, Harold “Pete” and James “Jimmie” Turner. The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:50 a.m. Monday, April 11th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. with Rev. Pat Rose officiating. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Martha’s memory to Murray’s Point Cemetery Fund, Mrs. Joan Murray, RR #1, Merigomish, NS B0K 1G0.
