Obituary of Evelyn Grant Dobson
LINACY – Evelyn Grant Dobson, 94, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Linacy, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in the Manor, surrounded by her family.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late James Gunn and Grampian Bella (Grant) Greene. Prior to retirement she had been employed with the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow for 17 years in the kitchen and previously employed with Sunshine Dry Cleaners, New Glasgow for 12 years. In earlier years, Evelyn faithfully attended St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Gairloch and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening and loved her animals. Evelyn was a wonderful lady who will be missed by all who loved her.
Surviving are daughters, Betty (Wally) Richard, Linacy; Patsy (Bob) Richard, Linacy; Judy (Wally) Sutherland, New Glasgow; son, Billy (Cindy) Dobson, New Glasgow; step-son, Harry (Grace) Dobson, Truro; stepson-in-law, Fred Canton, Truro; sister, Marjorie Garneau, New Glasgow; brothers, Charlie (Barb) Greene, Toronto; Gerry (Donna) Greene, New Glasgow; Chester (Lydia) Greene, Kelowna, B.C.; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Everette Merville Dobson; daughters, Evelyn Fariello and, Alice and Sharon in infancy; son, Donald “Cooper” Dobson; step-daughter, Joyce Canton; sisters, Jessie Cameron and Barb Harris; brothers, George Greene, Russell Greene, Henry Greene and Donald Greene; granddaughter, Evelyn Richard.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 25th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26th with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Woodburn Cemetery.
