Obituary of Maurice Leyland Pearce

TRENTON – Maurice Leyland Pearce, 77, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow formerly of Trenton, went to be with his Lord on Friday, December 12, 2008. Born in Asansol, India, he was the son of the late Stanley and Kathleen (Lumsden) Pearce. He served with the British Merchant Marines and was a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association. He was a journalist and author, having published “Seven Days to Calvary” and “A Gate Called Beautiful”. He was a member of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow. Surviving are his wife, Grace Eisje (Offinga) Pearce, Trenton; sisters, Bessie, Australia; Beryl (Cyril), England; a brother. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in First United Baptist Church, 896 East River Road, New Glasgow with Rev. Leo Fletcher officiating. Donations may be made in his memory to First United Baptist Church Pledge Campaign.
