Obituary of Cecil James Richards

NEW GLASGOW - It is with a sorrowful heart I announce the passing of my father, Cecil James Richards on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Dad passed away at the age of 78 in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Dad was born on February 5, 1941 in Merigomish a son of the late Edward and Eva (Murphy) Richard. As an only child, he and my late mom were my world. To say that he was an amazing father and grandfather would not begin to describe what he meant to us. He was not only a loving father, grandfather and husband, he was a kind and faithful brother, uncle and friend. Dad possessed an enduring faith in his Lord and was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. For dad, life has not only changed – it has not ended! He now enjoys eternal rest, reunited with mom, at peace forever. Left to mourn dad’s passing are his loving daughter, Sherri (John); wonderful grandsons, Curtis, Jonathan and William; beloved sister and brothers, Mary, Kenny and Joe; many adored nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Bonnie; several sisters, brothers, sisters and brothers-in-law. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8th in Castle Hill Cemetery with Father Thomas A. MacNeil presiding. I invite all dad’s wonderful family and friends to gather with us as we lay dad to rest with mom. My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful Glen Haven Manor staff for the excellent care dad received. I will love you Dad until the end of time – your loving daughter, Sherri. Donations may be made in Dad's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the family.
