Obituary of Winnifred Muriel Arbuckle

GREENHILL – Winnifred Muriel “Winnie” Arbuckle, 63, Greenhill, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Isabel Margaret (Robertson) Davis, New Glasgow and the late Edward Whitman Davis. She was a member of Greenhill-Alma United Church, where she had served in youth programs in earlier years. Winnie had been employed with the former Sears Warehouse prior to joining the Wills, Estates and Trust Group at the law firm of MacIntosh, MacDonnell & MacDonald, where she was a valued paralegal. She enjoyed flower gardening, painting and reading. Winnie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband, Ralph G. Arbuckle; sons, Capt. Alan (Lizon) Arbuckle, Greenwood; Kevin (Tracy) Arbuckle, Halifax; grandchildren, Nia, Niobe, Kayden and Jaylee; sisters, Myrna MacLeod, Stellarton; Edith Davis, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Whitman. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 6th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7th with Rev. Jeanne Manning Stright officiating. Private interment will be held in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Winnie’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
