THORBURN – Mary Catherine English, 83, Thorburn, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 24, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late John and Chriss (MacDonald) Campbell. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting and babysitting. She was a loving mother who cared deeply for her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Christine English, Jennie English, Thorburn; son, Lloyd (Sherry) English, Thorburn; son-in-law, Frank Norris, MacLellan’s Brook; grandchildren, Kevin (Alice) English, Ritchie (Marilyn) English, Leanne (Peter) Lim, Carla (Adam) Williams, Cindy (Derek) DeCoste, John (Carol) Norris, Frank (Cathy) Norris; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Cody, Taylor, Dawson, Sean, Brooke, Garrett, Allie, Ethan, Kayla, Kelsey, Keigan and Hannah; sisters, Margaret MacIntosh, Westville; Betty Fraser, Amherst; Ruth (Jerry) Rogers, Thorburn; brother, Jack (Marjorie) Campbell, P.E.I.; sisters-in-law, Joyce Campbell, New Glasgow; Audrey Campbell, Trenton; uncle, Clifford (Isabel) MacDonald, Thorburn; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd George English Sr.; daughter, Judy Norris; great-grandson, Cameron Norris; sister, Ina; brothers, Fred, Gordon and Archie in infancy. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Union Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in her memory to Union Presbyterian Church or any charity of choice.
