Obituary of Margaret Helen MacKinnon

NEW GLASGOW / KENTVILLE- Margaret Helen MacKinnon, 100, New Glasgow and Kentville, formerly of Woodfield, Pictou County passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Shannex Orchard Court, Kentville on June 11, 2010. Born in Garden of Eden on August 11, 1909, she was a daughter of the late George and Florence (MacLaren) MacDonald. Margaret had been a member of the Merigomish United Church and Honorary Member of the Garden of Eden Women’s Institute. Margaret is survived by daughter; Jessie Haas, New Minas, grandchildren; Beverley (David) Harris, New Minas, Douglas (Danielle) Haas, Canaan, Dane MacKinnon, Kelowna, BC, David MacKinnon, Fredericton, NB; great grandchildren; Adam, Andrew, Laura and Lindsay Harris, Lauran and Hunter Haas; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; Daniel H.: son, George; grandson, David Haas; sisters, Mary Helen MacDonald, Jessie Stalheber and Evelyn James; brother, Lloyd MacDonald; son-in-law, Arthur Haas. The family will receive visitors from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Sunday June 13th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 14th in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Eden Cemetery, Moose River. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to any charity of choice. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to all those who visited Margaret, delivered meals and took her out for drives. Also, thank you to all who sent church bulletins and cards over the years. The many acts of kindness were much appreciated. A special thank you to all the staff at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow and Shannex Orchard Court, Kentville for their love, care and compassion.
