Obituary of Peter Joseph Slevin
THE PONDS – Peter Joseph Slevin, 76, The Ponds, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by his family.
Born in Fivemiletown, Northern Ireland, he was a son of the late Peter and Bridget (Donaghey) Slevin. Prior to retirement, Peter was employed in construction, where he specialized in special coatings in industrial applications. He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore. Peter was very active in his community, where he had served as president of the Lismore Community Centre for a number of years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Eleanor R. (MacGillivray); daughter, Dana (Arnold) Huber, Dartmouth; son, Perry Michael (Catherine) Slevin, Whitby, Ont.; grandchildren, Jacob and Matthew Slevin, Evan and Avery Huber; sisters, Kathleen Slevin, Belfast, Northern Ireland; Bridie (Jim) Breen, Tempo, Northern Ireland; Maureen Connolly, Augher, Northern Ireland; Roision Slevin, Alicante, Spain; Nora McCarney, Whitby; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Danny.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
