Obituary of Laura Jean LeLacheur

NEW GLASGOW – Laura Jean LeLacheur, 87, New Glasgow passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born December 29, 1931 in D’Escousse, she was a daughter of the late Angus and Sophie Sampson. Laura was a devoted mother and grandmother, who sought to enrich the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was a talented baker. Laura leaves a rich legacy of love and devotion to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all she loved. Surviving are daughters, Linda LeLacheur, New Glasgow; Joan (Wilfred) Landry, Arichat; sons, Wayne (Patricia) LeLacheur, Irish Mountain; Johnny LeLacheur, Sydney; grandchildren, Sheri, Daniel, Chasidy, Justin, Jason, Chad, Jordan, Ashley, Matthew and Cory; great-grandchildren, Mason, Charlie, Morgan, Cole, Triston, Olivia and Kaleb; sister, Hilda LeLacheur, Vancouver, B.C.; brothers, Arthur Sampson and Simon Sampson, Halifax; Hubert Sampson, Quebec; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband John James LeLacheur; sister, Alvina MacAllister; brother, George Sampson. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Southbrook Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury. Donations may be made in Laura’s memory to the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. (Please click on link to donate online)
