Obituary of Mary Jean Hodgins

WESTVILLE- Mary Jean Hodgins, 66, Westville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John Felix and Agnes Bernadette (Hurley) O’Donnell. She was a member of Our Lady Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. Jean had been a volunteer at the Salvation Army thrift store for a number of years. She enjoyed tending to her flower’s and tree’s, crafts, facebooking, playing bingo and pool. Surviving are daughter, Barb (Darryl) Morrison, Westville; grandchildren, Kelsea, Jacob, Chester and Michael; great-grandchildren, Riley, Dominic and Liam; sister, Bridgette (Mike), Pictou; brothers, Pat (Ann), Petawawa, Ont.; Joe ( Irene), Stellarton; special friend, Francis MacEachern, Westville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Larry Hodgins; children, John and Heather Ann in infancy; brothers, Sterling and Jackie; close friend, Mary Brewer. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel with Father Donald Boudreau presiding. Donations may be made in Jean’s memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or The Salvation Army.
