Obituary of Margaret Catherine McCormick

NEW GLASGOW – Margaret C. McCormick, 82, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Jubilee Avenue, Stellarton, passed away peacefully July 1, 2010 in the Manor, surrounded by her family. Born in Windsor, Margaret was a daughter of the late Fred and Margaret (White) Wyatt. She had been employed for many years with the former Goodman Store in New Glasgow. Margaret loved children and was a truly dedicated, loving mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren will always cherish the memories of spending weekends at Gram’s house making cookies, dancing and going to the Salvation Army Church where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years. She loved music and danced the polka and the hop well into her late 70’s. Surviving are daughters, Marilyn (Wayne) Petrie, Thorburn; Janet West (John Czifra) Pictou Landing, Donna (Carson) Roulston, Stellarton; grandchildren, Tracey (Andrew) Burke, Chris (Jackie) Sheparski, Marilyn (Vernon)Wright, Paula (Paul) Crosby, Adam (Traci) Sheparski, Donna (Mike) Poworznyk, Wyatt Roulston, Travis Roulston, Nathan Petrie; 13 great grandchildren and her life long dear friend, Eileen White. She was predeceased by her husband, Basil McCormick and grandson Russell Petrie. The family will receive visitors 2 - 4 p.m. Saturday, July 3rd in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4th in the chapel with Corps Sergeant Major (Ret'd), Fred Jeffery officiating. Interment will be in Abercrombie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Salvation Army Westville Corps. Sincere thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff at Glen Haven Manor and her own very special C. C. A. granddaughter, Marilyn Wright, also special thanks to Skip Busby for his daily visits and the ever present comfort and prayers of Sister Mary.
