NEW GLASGOW - Peter Douglas Westerman, 60, New Glasgow passed away peacefully Friday, June 7, 2013 in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born in Kentville, he was a step son of Eva (Madore) Westerman and the late William and Marjory (Winchester) Westerman. He was an on air personality at CKEC from 1978-1984. Peter retired from Aberdeen Business Centre after 20 years in maintenance. He enjoyed music, deep sea fishing and bingo. Peter was a loving, husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Darlene (DeYoung) Westerman, daughters, Haley Westerman, New Glasgow; step-daughter, Nichole Marks, New Glasgow; sisters, Cheryl Lays, Westville; Vicki (Harvey) MacLeod, Stellarton; Dorothy Jill Westerman, Nunavut, NWT; April (Scott) Faulkner, Middle Sackville; brother, Darrell Westerman (Donna), Shorts Lake; Aunts, Jean Westerman, New Glasgow; Rose Bowes, New Glasgow; nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Patsy (Brow) Westerman; step-father, Alvin Reeves; brother, William “Billy” Westerman. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in P.&K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will follow in Abercrombie Cemetery. Family flowers only.
