Obituary of Phyllis Marie Lochead

SALT SPRINGS – Phyllis Marie Lochead, 77, Salt Springs, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Roy Burton and Sarah Margaret (MacGillivray) Creelman. Prior to retirement in 1997, she was employed with Michelin Tire, Granton, for 25 years. She was affectionately known as “Nanny Phyllis” by her grandchildren and their friends. Phyllis’ life was centered around her family, where her love knew no bounds. Her uniquely lovable character, sense of humour, appreciation for the “real things” in life and kindness to animals will be long remembered by her family and friends. Phyllis leaves a legacy, rich in love and kindness. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Harold Lochead; daughter, Wanda (Eric) Ward, Mount Thom; son, Bobby (Lynda) Lochead, Mount Thom; grandchildren, Shelby and Connor Lochead; sister, Loise Brennan, Dartmouth; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by nephews, Darryl, Scott and Brian; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18th in St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Salt Springs with Rev. Mary Anne Grant officiating. Private interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. If desired, donations may be made in memory of Phyllis to the Pictou County SPCA. (please click on link to donate online)
