Obituary of Mary Jean Fraser-Verrall
PORTERS LAKE – Mary Jean Fraser-Verrall, 55, Porters Lake, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at home.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Joseph “Joe” Fraser, Pictou Landing and the late Margaret Louise (Wilson) Fraser. Mary Jean was a geologist at Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board Geoscience Research Centre, Halifax. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, and travelling with friends and family. Mary Jean managed several ringette, soccer and hockey teams and taught Sunday school at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Dartmouth and Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou Landing. She also canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of her mother Louise and her aunt Georgie.
Surviving are husband, John; daughter, Sarah and son, Nicholas, all of Porters Lake; sisters, Wanda Fraser, Abercrombie; Alice (Wade) Brown, Millbrook; brothers, Philip, Pictou Landing; Raymond (Odessa), Hillside; Andrew, Pictou Landing; brothers-in-law; James (Kim); Leonard (Kathy); sisters-in-law, Joanne (Dave), Betty (Mark); all of Chatham, Ont.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 in Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou Landing with Rev. Lorne MacLeod presiding.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
