COALBURN – Calvin Ernest “Kelly” MacDonald, 84, Coalburn, passed away, Sunday, March 3, 2019, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Thorburn, he was a son of the late John William and Margaret Rose MacDonald. Kelly was a member of Thorburn Presbyterian Church, Thorburn and took pride in being the caretaker for many years. He was a Surveyor for the Nova Scotia Department of Highways from where he retired. Kelly could often be found sitting across the table from his wife playing a competitive game of crib. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Gwenda; son David, Ont.; grandchildren, Hannah MacDonald; Alex Cameron; great-granddaughter, Lyla Cameron, many nieces, nephews, and close friend, Bill Dewtie. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by several sisters and brothers. Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m., Friday March 8, 2019 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel with John Reeves officiating. Donations in Kelly’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
