Obituary of David Alexander Fraser

HILLSIDE – David Alexander Fraser, 81, Hillside, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Robert Charles and Mae Helen (Cantley) Fraser. He was a member and former elder of First United Church, Trenton. He served in Korea from 1950 – 1951 with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He was a member and past president of the Nova Scotia Overseas War Veterans Association and a former member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29, Trenton. David enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Alma Elizabeth “Betty” (Hallett); daughter, Karen (Michael) MacKay, Hillside; sons, Charlie (Maureen), New Glasgow; Ronnie (Kathy), Abercrombie; sister, Marion Barton, Moncton, N.B.; grandchildren, Jody Fraser (Aaron Pellerine), Jonathan Fraser, Ryan Fraser, Jessica and Emily MacKay; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Alva, Henry and Seely. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 12th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday , March 13th in First United Church with Rev. Debra Orton presiding. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in David’s memory to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or First United Church, Trenton.
