Obituary of Helen Elizabeth MacInnis

MACINNIS – Helen Elizabeth (MacAulay) (White) , 89, New Glasgow, formerly of Stellarton, passed away peacefully, Friday, November 18, 2011 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow on July 10, 1922, she was the youngest child of the late Malcolm MacLeod and Elizabeth (Swift) MacAulay. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was employed for many years as a private duty practical nurse. Helen had great faith and was a member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow. Helen was a loving and wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother, who will be sadly missed and remembered with love. Surviving are her husband of 21 years, Hector Allan MacInnis; children, Leonard “Lennie” (Denise) White, Hopewell; Dawn (Jim) Hayman, Trenton; Caroline Leslie, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.; Robert “Bob” White, Kearns, Utah; Cheryl Kontuk (Ken Brown), Stellarton; step-children, Kevin (Linda) MacInnis, Ottawa; Sandra (Barry) Foster, Halifax; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; lifelong friend, Liz Odo, New Glasgow; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband of 49 years, Herbert James White; grandsons, Derrick James White MacKay and baby Frederick Kontuk; brothers, George, Clarence, Herbert, Donald and Malcolm; sisters, Jessie Fraser and Jean Dixon; daughter-in-law, Nancy White; son-in-law, Robert Leslie. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21st in Trinity United Church with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook presiding. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in her memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or Pictou County VON. The family wish to thank Dr. Grant Kirk, Rev. Jim Webber-Cook, Aberdeen Palliative Care Society and the Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses for their kindness and support.
