Obituary of James Burton Foote

THORBURN – James Burton “Jim” Foote, 62, Thorburn formerly of Pine Tree passed away suddenly, Friday April 16, 2010 at home. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late James Angus Burton and Mary Gertrude (Carroll) Foote. He was a member of Sutherland's River Presbyterian Church. In earlier years he was employed with Maritime Steel, New Glasgow, and Michelin Tire, Granton for 28 years where he had been a supervisor in service “O”. He was co-owner of Three Dolphins and had been employed as a commissioner. Surviving are his companion, Kay MacInnis, Moose River; sons, James (Barb), Washington, USA; Michael (Jamie), New Glasgow; sisters, Grace Hatfield, Westville; Betty Marshall, Coalburn; Ethel (Aubrey) Dee, Pine Tree; Edith Murphy (André Merchand), Thorburn; brother, Lloyd (Violet) Hughes, Middle River; former wife, Doreen Foote; grandchildren Jeremy and Jacob; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters, Ethel and Rita Hughes; brothers, Roy and George Hughes; his faithful canine companion of 17 years, Lady. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 19th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 20th in Sutherland's River Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Interment will follow in French River Cemetery. Donations may be made in Jim’s memory to French River Cemetery Fund.
