Obituary of Roger Kent MacDonald

LITTLE HARBOUR – Roger Kent MacDonald, 67, Little Harbour, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 11, 2021. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Ivan Roderick and Mabel Jessie (MacKenzie) MacDonald. Roger was a Red Seal carpenter, having worked for Higgins Construction for a number of years before becoming employed with the former Northern Pulp where he worked for many years until retirement in 2008. Roger was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. He enjoyed kayaking, windsurfing, bicycling, working out at the Wellness Centre and working outdoors in his yard and garden. Roger treasured the company of his two feline friends, Winkey and Smokey, and was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He appreciated the friendships he acquired throughout his life, to whom, he remained loyal and faithful. May Roger hear, “well done good and faithful servant…”. Surviving are his sister, Wendy (Frank) MacCulloch, Little Harbour; brothers, Clarrie (Betty) MacDonald, Mount William; Raymond MacDonald, Coalburn; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Linda Joyce MacDonald in infancy; Shirley Pellerine; brother, Roderick James MacDonald; sister-in-law, Debra MacDonald; brother-in-law, Malcolm Pellerine. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A private funeral service will be held in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiating. Interment will be in Castle Hill Cemetery, MacLellan’s Brook.
