TRENTON – Georgina Janet “Jo” Weatherbie, 85, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Trenton, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 20, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late George and Emma (Strickland) MacKay. Jo was a faithful member of First United Church, Trenton, where she taught Sunday school. In earlier years, Jo enjoyed working in retail, including Sally Shop and Kmart. Together with her husband, Jim, they raised four children and cared for his parents, Percy and Bertha Weatherbie and her mother, Emma MacKay. Jo and Jim were the loving center of their family. She was a kind, loving lady, who’s warm personality and generous spirit will not be forgotten. Jo’s grandchildren were her true joy and Jim was the love of her life. Surviving are daughters, Linda Diggins (David Grosvold), Pictou; Gloria Weatherbie, Trenton; Norma (William) Wilson, Springville; son, Jim (Brenda) Weatherbie, Trenton; grandchildren, Amanda Diggins; James (Julia) and Taylor Weatherbie; brother-in-law, Bill (Barb) Weatherbie, Trenton; sister-in-law, Marjorie MacKay, Alberta; many nieces, nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, James “Jim”; sister, Gloria Krull; brother, Fraser MacKay; many beloved in-laws. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home from where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in the chapel. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. The Weatherbie family wish to thank those who faithfully visited Jo and the wonderful staff at the Glen Haven Manor and Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
