Obituary of Chalmers Stephen Stewart

THORBURN – Chalmers Stephen “Challie” Stewart, 37, Thorburn, passed away, Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary, Alta. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Chalmers Campbell and Helen Beatrice (James) Stewart. He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn. Challie was a ticketed Red Seal Pipe Welder, employed with Shell Oil, Fort Saskatchewan, and a member of UA Local 244 Plumbers & Pipefitters. He enjoyed body building and working out, playing hockey, fishing and swimming at Park Falls. Challie’s pride and joy was his “boy”, Nick. Surviving are his son, Nicholas Stephen Turnbull, Stellarton; sister, Helen Anne Stewart (Vaughn Fraser), St. John, N.B.; brother, John Frederick Stewart, Thorburn; niece, Brandie Stewart, Kingston, Ont.; half-sister, Lois Robson, Thorburn; nephews, Nicholas and Alan Robson; many aunts and uncles; numerous cousins. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday, September 14th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 15th in Union Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
