Obituary of John Colin Chisholm

TRENTON – John Colin Chisholm, 92, Trenton, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 5, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in William’s Point, he was a son of the late John J. and Agnes (Chisholm) Chisholm. Prior to retirement in 1985, he had been employed as a mechanic with Warren Maritimes Limited. He was a faithful member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton. His strength, gentleness and optimism were a reflection of his quiet but deep faith. He will be fondly remembered sitting on his front porch or on the backyard swing, enjoying life. John was a loving husband, father, special grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Catherine Louise “Toots” (Chislett); daughter, Wendy A. Chisholm, at home; special daughter, Marie (Chris) Lamey, New Glasgow; special grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Feltmate, Pictou Landing; Jillian Laffin (Sheldon Paul), Pictou Landing; special great-grandchildren, Tyler Feltmate and Marlee Paul; brother, Ambrose (Kaye) Chisholm, New Glasgow; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Christie, Margaret, Rose, Cecelia and Mary Ann; brothers, Ray, Jim and Ronald. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 6th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 7th in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in John’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
