NEW GLASGOW – Gordon Earl Rogers, 72, New Glasgow, passed away suddenly, Friday, September 16, 2016. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Maxine Emily (Rogers) Davis. Gordon was employed for over 40 years with Trenton Works, Axel Forge, retiring due to ill health. He greatly enjoyed tinkering in his garage, doors open, an invitation for one of the “boys from the hill” to drop in and share a coffee, laugh, and tell stories, especially about their numerous fishing and hunting trips. Gordon treasured lifelong friendships he had made. He was a truly dedicated NASCAR fan, having gathered a massive model car collection and everything about his favourite driver(s), the Earnhardts. Gordon enjoyed many summers camping with the Fosters in Prince Edward Island with his “summer family”. Gordon’s “fur babies”, Foster, Tico and Bella were always by his side. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his soulmate, Trixie Willett; children, Kim (Tom) Snelgrove, Enfield; Darrin (Susan) Rogers, New Glasgow; Angela (Robert) A’Court, Westville; step-son, John (Crystal) Willett, Trenton; sister, Darlene Johnston, New Glasgow; brother, Don Rogers, Brooklin, Ont.; grandchildren, Greg and Jenna Snelgrove, Zach, Jasmyne and Ali Rogers, Liam A’Court; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his mother, he was predeceased by brother-in-law, Gary Johnston. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
