MacPHERSON’S Mills – John Benedict Ryan, 70, MacPherson’s Mills, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 2, 2018 at home with his wife by his side. Born in Goulds, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth (McCann) Ryan. John was an Iron Worker, worked for Ontario Hydro, and was the owner/operator of a shuttle service in Ft. McMurray. John liked travelling, spending time at their cottage in Egerton where he enjoyed swimming, entertaining, and nature walks. He also liked spending time with their dogs, Tippy, Teddy and Pebbles. Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Fraser); daughters, Shirley (Bill) Downes, Ontario; Kayla Ryan, B.C.; Jenny Ryan, B.C.; son, John Jr., Alberta; grandchildren, Ryan, Liam and Lorilei; brothers, Jimmie (Lena), Goulds, Newfoundland; Billy (Patsy), New York; sisters, Gertrude (Ronnie) Whitten; and Elizabeth Kirk, both of Goulds, Newfoundland, many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Joan, Jane, Beverley and Margaret; twin brother, Edward. In keeping with John’s wishes his family will celebrate his life privately.
