Obituary of Edith Pearl MacLaren

NEW GLASGOW – Edith Pearl MacLaren, 85, High-Crest Place, New Glasgow, formerly of Linacy, passed away, Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Born in French River, she was a daughter of the late Sinclair Alexander and Mary Catherine (Simpson) Browning. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. Edith was a founding member of the Linacy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she volunteered for many years. Upon retirement she became an honorary member. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and the outdoors. Surviving are her daughter, Marion (Fred) Bonvie, New Glasgow; son, Jerry, Little Harbour; sister, Lillian Woolley, Telford; brother, Fred (Dorothy) Simpson, Linacy; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Browning, New Glasgow; Muriel Cameron, Courtney, B.C.; Florence MacLaren, Pictou; brother-in-law, Keith (Vera) Jackson, Toronto, Ont.; great-granddaughters, Madison and Bryden Bonvie, New Glasgow; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom; grandson, Michael; sisters, Mary and Catherine; brother, Gordon; brothers-in-law, Alex and Billy. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel with Rev. Richard Sand officiating. Interment will be in Telford Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in her memory to 4 South, Aberdeen Hospital or any charity of choice.
