Obituary of James Charles Feit
NEW GLASGOW – James Charles “Jim” Feit, 65, New Glasgow, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Mary Josephine (Tilley) Feit, Thorburn and the late Joseph Philip Feit. He attended St. F.X. University, obtaining his B.Sc. (69”) majoring in Math and Physics, and received his M.Sc. (72’) in Physics. Following graduation, he was employed with Maritime Life for several years before joining the IT department at Sobeys Inc., where he was employed for 27 years, retiring in May 2007. He was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn. Jim was an active member of the Stellarton and Area Lions Club, Pictou County Amateur Radio Association and Pictou County Crime Stoppers. He was also involved with the Pictou County Crime Prevention Association, St. Mary’s River Association and Pictou County Relay For Life. While living in Conception Bay South, N.L., he was a Troop Scouter with Boy Scouts Canada and involved with the local Lions Club. Jim enjoyed going fishing with his family and friends. He was a loving son, husband, father, “poppie”, brother and friend.
Surviving besides his mother, Josie, are his wife of 43 years, Diana Margaret (Kearley); daughters, Joan Feit, New Glasgow; Jennifer (Tony) Anderson and their son, Joshua, New Glasgow; son, Harold Feit, New Glasgow; sisters, Theresa (Ken) Fraser, Cambridge, Ont.; Anna (Ray) Crosby, Thorburn; Doris (Keith) Robertson, Mississauga, Ont.; brothers, Lewis (Beverly) Feit, MacPherson’s Mills; Joseph (Deborah) Feit, Sunny Brae; goddaughter, Crystal (Jason) MacDonald, Thorburn; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 7th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 8th in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Colin MacKinnon presiding. Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Thorburn.
