Obituary of Iona Glendeane Kenny
NEW GLASGOW – Iona Glendeane Kenny, 84, Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, formerly of Churchville, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 7, 2021.
Born on Cape Sable Island, she was a daughter of the late Wallace R. and Maude Delia (Ross) Donaldson. Iona had been a homemaker all her life, having been briefly employed with the former Zellers, New Glasgow. Iona greatly enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Surviving are her son, Gregory Kenny (Angela), Steady Brook, N.L.; grandchildren, Lila, Leah (Jamie), Michael (Felicia) and Zak; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Grace, George, Carson, Adelia; sister, Helen Nickerson, Yarmouth; brothers, Elbern (Sylvia) Donaldson, Yarmouth; Paul (Brenda) Donaldson, Lower Argyle; step-daughters, Jean (Myles) Stevens, Delores (Greg) Johnson, Nancy Ingemansen and Karen Kenny (Allen); step-sons, Lloyd (Jane) Kenny and Robert (Kathy) Kenny; many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by daughters, Cheryl MacKay and Bonnie Westaway; sons, Wayne and Oral Smith; grandson, Joseph Conway; sisters, Annis Young and Erma Smith; brothers, Wayne in infancy, Weldon, Eugene, Merle, John and Leland; nephews, David and Peter; Gregory’s father, Alex Kenny.
A private graveside service will be held in Gladstone Cemetery, Four Mile Brook in the spring.
