Obituary of Clifford Reid MacDonald
MACLELLAN’S BROOK – Clifford Reid MacDonald, 72, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 26, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his wife by his side.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Clifford and Margaret Ann (Reid) MacDonald. Clifford joined the Canadian Army on November 10, 1966 and served with the Black Watch in Cyprus (1967-68), completing his service on April 15, 1969. He had been employed with the former Trenton Works, Ed. Stewart Well Drilling, Shaw Brick and as a log and pulp cutter. Clifford was the family “go to guy”, who was called to fix everything. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jay fan. Clifford leaves a rich legacy of hard work and love of family.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Marcella Anne “Nan” (Coady); son, Scott (Heather) MacDonald, MacLellan’s Brook; Gloria (Todd) Tree, Abercombie; Paulette MacDonald (Kenneth), Scotsburn; Marilyn MacDonald, MacLellan’s Brook; grandchildren, Chad, Sheena (Brendon), Heidi (Lucas), David (Melanie), Erika (Ryan), Marcella (Regan), Annabelle, Justin, Dylan, Morgan (Cameron) and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Adrianna, Madelyn, Cade, Natalie, Wyatt, Ryleigh and Logan; sisters, Mary Ellen (Ellery) Cameron, Norma Jean (Bill) MacDonald and Margie (Wayne) Fanning; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary, Pearl (Raymond), Sheila, Marina, Corrine, Helen (Jackie), Mary (John), Elsie, Ross (Cathy), Tommy (Louise), Gary (Doreen), Ranny (Velvet) and William “Willie”; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Catherine Diane in infancy; brother, John A. “Jackie” MacDonald; sisters-in-law, Margaret “Mickey”, Debbie, Pauline; brothers-in-law, John “Pee-Wee”, Robert “Bobby”, George, Gerry, Calvin and Delbert.
Clifford’s family wish to thank the Pictou County VON, especially his “sunshine”, Dawn; the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit staff; Dr. Gregor MacLean and Dr. Anne Kwasnik-Krawczyk.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where a private service will be held with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Castle Hill Cemetery, MacLellan’s Brook.
