Obituary of Stanley Phillip Newell

Stanley Phillip “Stan” Newell, 83, New Glasgow, passed away, Monday, September 7, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Mansfield Simon and Lila Louella (Feltmate) Newell. During the Second World War he served with the Provost Corps. He had been a Commercial Painter and was a meat cutter with IGA for many years. Stanley enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Janie “Beth” (Hattie); sisters, Bertha (Harold) Mabey, New Glasgow; Jean (Howard) Greencorn, Half Island Cove; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Edna Dort, Amanda Feltmate and Leona George; brothers, Coleman, Gordon and Douglas. The family will receive visitors 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 9th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 10th in the chapel with Rev. Helen Christie officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery, Argyle. Donations may be made his memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or any charity of choice.
