Obituary of Elizabeth Betty Geraldine Jordan

NEW GLASGOW – Elizabeth Geraldine “Betty” Jordan, 74, New Glasgow, formerly of Garden of Eden, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 21, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Eric Charles and Della Jean (Cameron) Finch. She was a member of Blair Presbyterian Church, Garden of Eden. Betty’s eight grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed baking so much, that, she baked countless individual batches of treats for each grandchild. When her grandchildren were young, Betty made endless batches of playdoh, risking burning her hands to cool it off if the grandchildren were anxious to play. From homemade aprons to fishing expeditions, she loved and respected each grandchild. She was an enthusiastic flower gardener, who enjoyed sharing her passion with others. Betty’s generosity was well received by all those who experienced her gracious provision of food, at any hour of the day or night, whether one individual or a group of 50. She took great pride in serving others. The bitter sweet events of Holy week have cumulated in triumph, as Betty has ascended to be with her beloved Charlie on Easter Sunday. She has been loved and will be missed. Betty’s rich legacy of love and generosity will be cherished by her family. Surviving are her daughter, Tanya (Wayne) MacLeod, Coalburn; sons, Trevor (Kim) Jordan, Garden of Eden; Darryl Jordan, MacPherson’s Mills; grandchildren, Jordan, Kayla, Michael, Sheldon, David, Jarrett, Alicia and Dale; sisters, Patsy (Calvin) MacLennan, Coalburn; Kaye (Doug) MacDonald, Garden of Eden; Arlene Finch, New Glasgow; brothers-in-law, Freddie Hingley, Stellarton; Ken (Judy) Reeves, Sackville; Jimmy (Judy) Reeves, Newtown; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Charlie; sister, Sandra Hingley. Her life will be celebrated privately by her family. The Jordan family wish to thank the wonderful nursing staff in the Aberdeen Hospital Emergency and Intensive Care Units for their care, compassion and “above and beyond” support Betty and family received. Donations may be made in memory of Betty to Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment. (Please click on link to donate online)
