Obituary of Olive Elizabeth Cameron

SALT SPRINGS – Olive Elizabeth Cameron, 78, Salt Springs, formerly of French River, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 9, 2012, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Harry Roy and Hilda Lavina (Gratto) Ross. In earlier years, she had been employed with Sure Stitch, B & S Catering and Goodman’s. She was a member of St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Salt Springs, where she was active in the Ladies Aid. Olive had been a member of the former French River-Telford Women’s Institute. She enjoyed handcrafts, specialty cake designing, gardening, birdwatching and spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband, James “Buster” Cameron; daughter, Linda (Rick) Ferguson, Westville; sons, Stephen (Mamie) Foote, Halifax; Jamie (Cathy) Foote, French River; brother, Elwood (Chris) Ross, Pleasant Valley; stepdaughters, Kathy (Walter) Anderson, Little Egypt; Pamela (Brian) McDonald, Brookland; stepson, Douglas (Norma) Cameron, Watervale; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, J. Alvin Foote. There will be no visitation at Olive’s request. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in French River Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Olive’s memory to the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Unit Endowment or St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Salt Springs.
