Obituary of Johann F.D. Schumacher
RIVERTON – Johann F. D. “John” Schumacher, 92, Haven Brook Manor, Riverton, formerly of Linacy and Lorne, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in Homfeld, Germany, he was a son of the late Johann Heinrich Konrad and Dorette (Wöltje) Schumacher. Prior to retirement in 1986, John was employed with Michelin Tire, Granton. He was a member of the Michelin Retirees Club. John and his late wife, Anna, enjoyed gardening and playing cards with friends and family. Moving to Haven Brook Manor in 2009, he enjoyed the companionship of his neighbours, especially the nighty card games. John lived a life filled with hard work, adventure and accomplishment.
Surviving are his daughter, Erika (Murray) MacDonald, Linacy; grandson, John (Joan) MacDonald, MacPherson’s Mills and their children, Chandler and Jayden; granddaughter, Ingrid (Trevor) Wise, Linacy and their children, Ava and Alsa; brother, Willi (Helga) Schumacher, Windhorst, Germany; sisters, Erna (Willi) Steinbeck, Wietzen, Germany; Anni Thies, Nienburg, Germany; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Marie (Rabe); daughter, Elsa; several siblings.
A graveside service will be held 4 p.m. Friday, September 11 in Lorne Cemetery, Lorne with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
