NEW GLASGOW – J. Harvey Ryan, 82, New Glasgow, passed away, Monday, November 12, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in Canso, he was a son of the late Joseph and Katherine “Katie” (Horne) Ryan. He had been employed with the former Dickson Bros Transfer and later, Irving Oil as a truck driver for many years. He was an Associate member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, New Glasgow. Harvey enjoyed spending time at Donnie’s camp in Glenelg, hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Surviving are his son, Harvey L. (Liz) Ryan, New Glasgow; granddaughter, Crystal MacDonald, Mabou; grandson, Harvey D. Ryan, Dartmouth; sister, Marion Walsh, Canso; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Vivian (Whyte); many sisters and brothers. In keeping with Harvey’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private service will be held. Donations may be made in Harvey’s memory to Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
