Obituary of Betty Leona Brooks
NEW GLASGOW - Betty Leona (Oldford) Brooks, 75, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Peterborough, Ont., she was a daughter of the late Herbert William and Evelyn Mildred (Watson) Sucee. In earlier years, Betty became a hairdresser and operated Betty’s Beauty Salon in Grand Valley, Ont. She had also worked as a bookkeeper working for various companies in Ontario and Pictou County. For a period of time she was employed as a camp cook for Warren Maritimes in New Brunswick. Betty attended Lighthouse Ministries Family Worship Centre, New Glasgow where she served in the music ministry. She also shared her gift of music by singing in the various nursing homes throughout the area. A person of faith, Betty believed that life only changes, it does not end.
Surviving are her daughter, Darlene Oldford (Glenn Anthony), Saint John, N.B.; son, Stephen Oldford, Trenton; granddaughters, Jody (Ray) Letondre, Airdrie, Alta; Crystal Oldford (John Reglis), Airdrie; great-grandchildren, Ellie Reglis and Carter Letondre; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Morley Sucee; former husbands, Clayton Oldford and Dan Brooks.
The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, December 9 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gordon Wheeler officiating.
