Obituary of Mildred Marie MacLean

NEW GLASGOW – Mildred Marie “Millie” MacLean, 89, Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021. Born in Larry’s River, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Lottie (Avery) Avery. In earlier years, she had been employed with the V-Filling Station and as a housekeeper at Our Lady of Lourdes, Stellarton. Millie had been a volunteer at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow and Aberdeen Hospital in the former Children’s ward. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. For Millie, “Life has changed: not ended!” Surviving are daughter, June (Harold) Leadbetter, Shediac, N.B.; sons, Joe (Debbie), Dartmouth; Robert (Diane), New Glasgow; Eric (Carolyn),Enfield; grandchildren, Mandy (Jarod) and Sean; sisters, Gladys Barron, Collingwood, Ont.; Doris (Donnie) Currie, Bedford; Alice Avery, Burlington, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Garnet, Gerry, Linda and Vergie; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Claire, Eva, Betty, Marion; brothers, Joseph, Donald, Ronald, Harold and Al. In keeping with Millie’s wishes, her family will honour her life privately. If desired, donations may be made in Millie’s memory to the Pictou County SPCA or Pictou County Food Bank East.
