Obituary of Margaret Kathleen Gratto
GREEN’S POINT – Margaret Kathleen “Kay” Gratto, 91, Green’s Point, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter or the late Frederick Michael and Mary Eleanor (Delorey) Coady. She was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton. In earlier years, she had been employed as a cook at Pictou Lodge and the Aberdeen Hospital, and had taught crafts at the Hillside and Northend Community Centers. Kay was a talented seamstress and enjoyed playing cards. She and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter, Eleanor (Alain), Canmore, Alta.; John “Jack” (Marg), Calgary, Alta.; Robert “Bob”, Barrie, Ont.; brothers, George (Pearl) Coady, Abercrombie; Colin “Duke” (Edith) Coady, Stillwater; Alvin (Rita) Coady, Trenton; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Stewart Gratto; daughter-in-law, Lynn Gratto; brothers, Ralph, Jack and Henry.
The family will receive 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday, September 10th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 11th in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson presiding.
