Obituary of Mabel Isabel MacDonald
NEW GLASGOW – Mabel Isabel (Fraser) MacDonald, 86, New Glasgow, formerly of Eureka, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Island East River, she was a daughter of the late David and Rosella (Giddings) Fraser. Mabel was an “easy going”, free spirited, lady, who enjoyed the company of others. She enjoyed gardening and visiting the garden centers. She looked forward to long drives and camping with her daughter and family. Mabel had a keen interest in her family genealogy and has left a legacy of love to be passed to the next generation.
Surviving are her son, Edward (Edna) MacDonald, Ottawa, Ont.; daughters, Lauretta (Alex) Varner, New Minas; Celeste (Harry) MacLeod, Churchville; chosen daughter, Gail (Ken) Fines, Trail, B.C.; grandchildren, Kevin MacDonald, Cheryl (Chris) Oldford, Anson Varner, Melanie Varner (John Delaney), Keaghan and Kolby MacLeod; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Bernard Anthony MacDonald; brother, Duncan Fraser.
The family will receive visitors 10 - 10:50 a.m. Saturday, June 16 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Hopewell.
Donations may be made in Mabel’s memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or Canadian Cancer Society.
