Obituary of John A. MacDonald

WESTVILLE – John Andrew “Jackie” MacDonald, 72, Westville formerly of MacLellan’s Brook, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at home. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Clifford and Margaret Ann (Reid) MacDonald. Prior to retirement due to ill health, he had been employed with the former Hawker Siddeley, Blue Acres Irving, New Glasgow and Thorburn rinks. In earlier years, Jackie raced stock cars at Fraser’s Mountain. He was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan, fiercely loyal to his favourite player, Sidney Crosby. During baseball season, he never missed a Blue Jays game. Jackie will be dearly missed by all who loved him. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Coady) MacDonald; daughters, Nancy MacLeod, Patti Murphy, Suzanne MacDonald and Rosemary Jennings; step-daughter, Catherine (Thomas) Martin; step-son, Dwayne Cullen; brother, Clifford (Marcella Anne) MacDonald; sisters, Mary Ellen (Ellery) Cameron; Norma Jean (Bill) MacDonald, Margie (Wayne) Fanning; cousin, Forry (Betty) MacDonald; several grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Catherine Diane in infancy. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Friday Sept 4 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Sept 5 with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
