Obituary of Willa Mina Chadwick

PICTOU LANDING – Willa Mina Chadwick, 90, Pictou Landing, passed away, Wednesday, September 5, 2007, surrounded by her family, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late John William and Mina (Fitt) Carrigan. She was employed in retail for 38 years, retiring as manager of Zellers (downtown) in 1979. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and CWL, New Glasgow. Willa was a former member of Stellarton Seniors Bowlers and Stellarton Heritage Club. Surviving are daughters, Robin Bruce, Ardyth Leigh (Ronald Martell), Pictou Landing; sisters, Frances Germany, Westville; Florence Copeland, Virginia Cunningham, Stellarton; grandchildren, Dawn Bruce, Kim Bruce (David Connors), Douglas (Sherry) Bruce, Shannon (Tommy) MacKenzie; 10 great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur James Leigh; second husband, Russell Allan Chadwick; sisters, Beatrice Doucette, Johanna Heighton, Marguerite Barton; brother, George “Dinny” and John in infancy. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation at Willa’s request. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church or Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery Fund.
