Obituary of Brian Ralph Matheson

SUNNY BRAE – Brian Ralph Matheson, 59, Sunny Brae passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of Charlotte Anna (Dyer) Matheson, Stellarton and the late Ralph Bernard Matheson. Prior to retirement due to illhealth, Brian was employed as a Millwright with Stora, Port Hawkesbury and previously had been employed with the former Scott Paper, Abercrombie and Hawker Siddeley, Trenton. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Following retirement, Brian found tremendous enjoyment looking after his horses and working around his hobby farm. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisher, a passion he shared with his Boy Scott Troops over the years. Surviving are daughter, Natasha O’Laney (Jeff), Bible Hill; sons, Jeffery Matheson (Kate) , Trenton; Cole Matheson, Halifax; several grandchildren; sisters, Sandra (Alan) MacDonald, Plymouth; Kay Court, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; brother, Robert (Reik) Matheson, Plymouth; nieces and nephews, Steven and Robert Long, Chelsea Prescott and Jessica Matheson, Sasha Court and Zachery Court; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his son, Joel. A private graveside service will be held. If desired, donations may be made in memory of Brian to the Canadian Cancer Society.
