Obituary of Ronald Barry Clyburn

PLYMOUTH – It is with deepest regret and great sorrow, we announce the death of Ronald Barry “Ron” Clyburn, on July 17, 2007,at the age of 62 years, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Plymouth. Born in New Glasgow on September 19, 1944, he was the youngest son of the late Robert Rex and Corelda Georgina Isabel (Fraser) Clyburn. He was a member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton. He began working at Trenton Works at the age of 17, and trained as a welder. Most of his career was spent as a pump room mechanic at Trenton Works and Nova Forge. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and working with his hands. He was a loving father and grampie. Gloria, his wife, was the love of his life; they spent every possible moment together. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and Gloria’s family, his friends and co-workers, as a kind, caring and gentle man who always knew how and when to make you smile or even laugh out loud. He had a little joke or story for every occasion, always looking for a way to put everyone at ease. He thought everyone was special. He will be sadly missed his by wife of 38 years, Gloria M. (Wallace); son, Aaron Clyburn, Plymouth; daughter, Shelley (Edison) Anderson, Fredericton, N.B.; grandsons, Noah and Caleb Anderson; sisters, Sylvia (Howard) Green, Sylvester; Karen Worthen (Allan Bird), Pictou Landing; Nancy (Ray) Webb, Blue Mountain; Linda MacKay, New Glasgow; aunt, Mary Petralia, New York, USA; uncle, Charles Clyburn, Trenton; sisters-in-law, Betty Clyburn, Dianne Perry, Eleanor Darroch, Jean (Jerry) O’Connor, Edith MacIntosh, Adeline Latter, Lillian (Hugh) Graham; brothers-in-law, Robert (Dorothy) Wallace, Donald (Una) Wallace; numerous, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gordon in infancy, Robert “Bob”, Wayne, Douglas; sisters-in-law, Mary (James) Grant; Anita Clyburn; brothers-in-law, James Darroch, Frank Wallace, Bert Worthen. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, with Rev. John Roy officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery. Donations may be made in Ron’s memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
