Obituary of Ambrose J. Chisholm
NEW GLASGOW \ SUMMERSIDE,P.E.I.- Ambrose J. Chisholm, 85, Summerside, formerly of New Glasgow and Antigonish passed away peacefully Saturday January 5, 2013 in Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I., surrounded by his family.
Born in Williams Point on January 11, 1927, he was a son of the late John J. and Agnes (Chisholm) Chisholm. Ambrose will be remembered by all who met him for his love of life, love of people, his selfless generosity and his deep faith. He felt blessed and happy throughout his life always putting the needs of others before his. Ambrose was a skilled carpenter for over 60 years, having served as secretary of the Carpenters Union in the 1970’s. He was a member of St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow and the Knights of Columbus Council 1667. He active in the Antigonish Garden Club. A lifelong gardener, he was involved in a housing cooperative to help build homes. One of his favorite things in life was to put a smile on someone’s face and simply being in his presence made this happen. Ambrose was a loving, husband, father, grandfather, great -grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Kathlee(McInnis; children, Darrell (Graziella Grbac),Cole Harbour; Karen (Mark) MacDonald, Ottawa, Ont.; Shauna Chisholm (Philippe Rodger), Summerside, P.E.I.; Paula Chisholm, Red Deer, Alta.; grandchildren, Jennifer Fox, Stephanie Chisholm, Angela Chisholm, Michelle Chisholm, Lauren MacDonald, Mathieu Rodger, Melanie Rodger, Megan Rodger; great-grandchildren, Liam and Rose; sister-in-law, Shirley(Linkletter) Chisholm, Joyce(Gilfoy)Chisholm, Williams Point; Catherine Toots(Chislet)Chisholm, Trenton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
esides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers and sisters; Margaret Chisholm, John, Mary Ann Pottie, Cecilia Noonan, Rose McLellan, Christie Chisholm, Jim, Ronald, Ray; brother-in-laws, Joey Pottie, Ray Noonan and Duncan McLellan.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 9 in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Donald Boudreau presiding, Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
