Obituary of Helen Joyce Frazee
NEW GLASGOW - Helen Joyce Frazee, 90, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Green’s Point, passed away, Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in the manor.
Born on March 12, 1930 in Boyles Road, she was a daughter of the late Rupert and Mae (Thompson) Boyles. In earlier years, Joyce was employed with the former Hamilton Biscuit Factory, Pictou and Norfolk Hotel, New Glasgow. Following her marriage to George (in 1951) she happily became a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Joyce built upon the values and skills she learned from her mother to leave her own impression one her children and grandchildren. She fondly cited the skills she acquired as a proud member of the Hillside Girl’s Club. Throughout her life, Joyce attended many hockey games and figures skating events, cheering for her family – she was their greatest fan! In her younger years, Joyce was an agile ball player, earning the name “crazy legs”. She could also be found skating in the rinks, gliding along the ice with precision strides on her racer skates. Joyce enjoyed a lively game of cards, darts, bingo, camping and being with friends. She always had time for a cup of tea and a chat. Joyce loved her grandchildren and they knew when grandma’s “glasses came off” it was time for wrestling, tickling and lots of hugs! Above all she cherished the time she spent with George, they moved from their beloved Green’s Point several years prior to her entering Glen Haven so they could spend more time at the Lochiel Lake cottage. She loved the tranquility of the water!
