Obituary of Harlan Elmer Simpson
LOWER BARNEY’S RIVER – Harlan Elmer Simpson, 76, Lower Barney’s River, passed away, Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
He was a son of the late Ainslie (Ross) Patton and William Mowbray. Harlan was a commercial fisherman since the age of 13 until retirement in 2008 out of the Lismore Wharf.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Mary (Macumber); daughter, Anne (Shawn), New Glasgow; sons, Alan (Joyce), The Ponds; John (Heather), Lower Barney’s River; Scott (Lori), Lismore; Mike (Brigid), Halifax; grandchildren, Lauren, Robyn, Raymond and Ainslie; brother, Sinclair (Diane), Mississauga, Ont.; “chosen son”, Wayne; best friend, Angus; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by Scott and Maggie, who raised him;
sister, Anne; uncle, Raymond; sister-in-law, Nellie; nephew, Donald; best friends, Nelson and Larry.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12th, hosted by his family, in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish with Rev. Pat Rose officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date in Murray’s Point Cemetery.
