Obituary of Leslie Marshall MacDonald
STELLARTON – Leslie Marshall “Les” MacDonald, 91, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Stellarton, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 in Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in Thorburn, he was a son of the late Harvard Stewart and Jessie Christina (MacDonald) MacDonald. Prior to retirement, he was employed with the former DEVCO as a coal sales agent. He was a member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton where he had served as an Elder and member of the Board of Stewards. Les was a family man, who was involved in every aspect of his children’s lives, supporting and championing their many quests. He was a loving and gentle husband, father, grandfather and friend. Les leaves his family a legacy of kindness, warmth, fond memories and a sense of humour.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, V. Celestine (Boehk), Glen Haven Manor; daughters, Kathy (Chris) Scott, Oakville, Ont.; Kim (Joseph) Gray, Lower Sackville; Sheri (Ray) Burns, Stellarton; son, Paul (Anita) MacDonald, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Angela, Matthew, Michele, Amber, Brendan, Luke and Liam; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Stewart; sisters, Jean, Muriel and Louise.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday Oct 10 in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday Oct 11 in Sharon St. John United Church with Rev. Hallett Llewellyn and Rev. Karen MacKay Llewellyn presiding.
Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
