Obituary of Allen Bruce Hill
ALMA - Allen Bruce Hill, 81, Alma, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, in the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou.
Born in Prescott, Ont., he was the son of the late Allen Alfred and Victoria (Campbell) Hill. He was a member of Christian fellowship Church, New Glasgow. During the Second World War he served as a marine engineer, sailing on ports boats. He had been employed as Power Plant Superintendent with the former Scott Paper, Abercrombie and previously, was part of the start up construction at Stora, Port Hawkesbury. Prior to retirement, he was employed with the Nova Scotia Agricultural College as power plant manager. Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Surviving are his wife, Olive Amanda (Gates); daughters, Bonnie (Fred) Toutet, France; Linda Hill, Alma; sisters, Mary Simpson, Brockville, Ont.; June Usher, Brockville, Ont.; Joan Rouse, Maitland, Ont.; brother, Elton (Shirley) Hill, Brockville; grandchildren, Christiana, Sabine, Carine; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by sisters, Faye Leeder, Nellie Moore; brother, Charlie Hill.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Royal Canadian Legion tribute service 6:30 p.m., all Monday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Christian Fellowship Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Dave Campbell,
officiating. Interment will be in Gladstone Cemetery.
