Obituary of James William MacLeod

THORBURN – James William “Billy” MacLeod, 76, Thorburn, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016. Born in Isaac’s Harbour, he was a son of the late Mary (Moore) MacLeod. Billy began driving trucks at a young age. He worked at several jobs, but his “first love” was trucking. Billy owned and operated James MacLeod Trucking, Thorburn for many years. He was an avid race fan and drove his No. 45 Monte Carlo at Riverside Speedway for many years. Billy shared his passion for racing, mechanics and work with his sons. He was a hard working man who was always there for his family. Surviving are his daughter, Patricia MacLeod, Dartmouth; sons, Lester (Susan), Truro; Harry (Celeste), New Glasgow; Wayne (Tanya), Coalburn; sister, Isabel Dean, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Jordan, MacKenzie, Keaghan, Kayla and Kolby; step grandchildren, Lyndsey and Tanya; step great-grandchildren, Devlin and Caden; several nieces and nephews; life-long family friend, Margaret Kirk. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice MacLeod; sisters, Agnes Macumber and Esther MacInnis; brother, James Robert “Bobby” MacLeod. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday May 5th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday May 6th in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Thorburn Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in memory of Billy to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
