Obituary of Wendy Marlene Campbell

NEW GLASGOW - Wendy Marlene Campbell, 56, New Glasgow, formerly of Lincolnville, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at home. Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of Jean Agnes (Stevenson) Campbell, Glace Bay and the late James Arnold Campbell. Wendy was blessed to have been raised and loved by her late “mom”, Bertha Mae Campbell. She was a well-known Lincolnville Community activist. Wendy had been employed as an African Nova Scotian Student Support Worker with Guysborough Academy and had operated the Afrikan Canadian Heritage and Friendship Centre for many years. She was a loving partner, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Surviving are her partner, Anthony Edward “Tone” Sheppard; son, J. Maynard Leslie (Lisa) MacKinnon, Springville; daughter, Shawna Lynn MacKinnon, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Brendan, Kassidy, Isaiah, Joshua, Jordan and Brayden; sisters, Jeananne (Mike), Evelyn, Georgi (Robert), Ann; brother, Lowell; nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive visitors 10 – 10:50 a.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Elaine Walcott officiating.
