Obituary of Sarah Elizabeth Herbison

GRANTON – Sara Elizabeth Herbison, 76, Abercrombie, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Trenton, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late James Patrick and Margaret Elizabeth (O’Halloran) Carter. In earlier years, she was employed as a secretary in Toronto. Baptised Roman Catholic, Sara possessed strong beliefs, which she expressed in a kind and gentle manner. Each spring she looked forward to a wonderful gardening season. Sara possessed an artistic talent which she displayed through her paintings, quilting, crocheting and playing classical guitar. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Surviving are daughters, Sharri Browne, Fort Nelson, B.C.; Michele Peters (Jody Graham), Grand Manan Island, N.B.; sons, Lance (Cheryl) Peters, St. Francis Harbour; Darren (Gloria) Peters, Abercrombie; brothers, James (Theresa) O’Halloran, Pirate Harbour; Henry “Bud” (Marilyn) O’Halloran, Sand Point; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles “Chuck” Peters; second husband, James Herbison. There will be no visitation at Sara’s request. A private service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the Aberdeen Health Foundation Palliative Care Endowment or Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses. (Please click to donate online.)
